Upgrade note

• Score thresholds: FAISSBackend and PineconeBackend now return similarity_score on the 0 to 1 scale (see Changed). If you filter or alert on those scores, re-check your thresholds.

• demonroute is now in the provider base-URL table (https://api.demonroute.com/v1).

Changed

• Behavior change: FAISSBackend and PineconeBackend now return similarity_score on the same [0, 1] scale as the other backends, (x + 1) / 2 of the raw cosine (identical 1.0, orthogonal 0.5, opposite 0.0). Before, they returned the raw cosine in [-1, 1], so a caller filtering on similarity_score behaved differently per backend (issue 577). Scores of existing stored data are not affected; only the returned values change.

Fixed

• ingest_batch() now keeps the metadata of file items (it was silently dropped; the url, image, audio and video items already kept it). aingest() accepts an optional metadata argument for this.

Verified

• The FAISS score change is tested with a real FAISS index (identical 1.0, orthogonal 0.5, opposite 0.0); the Pinecone change with the mocked client, not against a real Pinecone account.
• The ingest_batch() metadata fix has new tests that fail on the previous code.
